This year's AMA Motocross Banquet & Season Celebration was held in a magnificent banquet room at the Pala Resort & Casino. The room was decorated beautifully, lined with motocross dcor, as well as a stage decorated with the championship bikes and awards. The line-up of food, appetizers, desserts, and beverages was very elegant and delicious.
After dinner, the awards ceremony began. Jason Weigandt, along with Tim Cotter hosted the show. And of course Jason started it just like he does many of his shows - after slamming down an energy drink.
Jason went on to talk about each round of this summer's AMA Motocross Nationals, with a list of funny jokes pertaining to all the good and bad situations at each of the races. After that, the awards and trophies were handed out.
The night was filled with special memories, good times, and laughs. One poignant moment was when Kevin Windham accepted the award for 'Sportsperson of the Year'. Kevin always has a great way of expressing himself, but made a great comment towards his friend & the team manager, Mike LaRocco. He commented on Mike's motivation, that pushed Kevin to work hard and do his best ... it was touching, but at the same time very funny.

I was very impressed with the layout of the entire facility - the pits, the press, the track ... the entire presentation.
Everyone from Glen Helen Raceway - Dr. Bud Feldkamp (track owner) to Lori (track manager), their staff including Carl, Steve, Bob did a great job in representing the United States and California in having one of the greatest motocross tracks in America.
I sat with Dr. Wolfgang Srb, President of the FIM Motocross Commission, and he was very impressed with the preparation of everything as well, including the track, especially with the fact that the event was put on with 60 days notice. He thought everything was top notch, and is excited to have the event come back next year.

Moving up from the Lites class to the full time 17 rounds in the premier 450 Supercross class is a big step for any racer. Making it a double whammy, Kyle Regal is also going from Privateer Status to a full Factory Sam Manuel L & M Yamaha ride.
Kyle rode a few 450 Supercross rounds last season, when he wasn?t racing in the Supercross East Coast Lites, but it was this summer Kyle really gained momentum on the 450, finishing ninth in the series final standings.
Who: Cole. What: The 2012 Honda CRF150R. When and Where: It's available now in Honda dealerships across the USA!
Since it's release in 2007, the Honda CRF150 has smoked the competition, rewritten the rule books, and made young and old smile in anticipation of throwing a leg over it. And the CRF150R is back stronger than ever for 2012!
This model is on dealership floors now ... and Honda is kicking you back 200 bonus bucks and offering 1.99% financing. Sound like a gift that could go under the tree for Christmas?
Supercross.com test rider, Cole Bailey, age 8, is an experienced racer who currently competes in the 65cc and 85cc motocross classes. We headed out to Piru MX Track in Southern California for a day with American Honda and the new 2012 Honda CRF150R. Cole spent several hours riding the new CRF150R, as well as working with the Honda crew adjusting controls, setting sag, and turning clickers.
At the end of the day, we asked Cole (and his dad Sean) what they had to say:
When did you start riding?
Cole: I started riding when I was two ... on a PW50, with training wheels.
What bike do you race now?
Cole: A Cobra 65 and a Suzuki RM85.
Tell us about riding the new CRF150R ...
Cole: I really liked it because it's really fast and has lots of top end and bottom end ... it's smooth out of the corners ... and it's really fast ... really really fast ... and it's my favorite bike I've ever ridden ... and it handled good, so you can stay in the ruts and stuff like that.
Sean, what did you think of Cole on the CRF?
Sean: I'm really surprised ... he's riding it very well ... he seems very comfortable in the air on it ... and he's 9 seconds per lap faster today on the CRF than he was yesterday on the Cobra 65, and 4 seconds faster than on the Suzuki 85.

Where supercross started - the fabled Los Angeles Coliseum in 1972. This video is from 1985 at the L. A. Coliseum Supercross.
This video is part 1 of 2. I wanted to get it up for you as quickly as possible. In this video, for better or worse, you'll see a lot of me (I'm number 5 on a Yamaha). But in the second video that's coming, you'll see a lot more of my friends in the race like David Bailey, Bob Hannah, Jeff Ward, Goat Breker, Broc Glover, Ron Lechien, Johnny O'Mara, and others.
I think in 1985, we ran two 'main events' at each supercross. Part of what you see here (if my memory is correct) is me winning the first 'main event'.
And stay tuned for the second video! Both videos have the fabled Peristyle uphill / downhill. And especially in the second video coming late next week, with guys like Jeff Ward, David Bailey, Bob Hannah, Broc Glover, Ron Lechien, Johnny O'Mara and myself - you'll see riders with about 33 AMA Supercross and Motocross titles combined!

Monaco might be a playground for the rich and famous but nobody in town was ready for the intensity of last Thursday night?s FMX show in prime position down on the Port Hercule harbor. After two operations on my shoulders I am firmly in the process of taking things step-by-step to get back to normal. I am in the position now where the left one feels pretty good and I need to build up some muscle, although the state of the arm is not too bad. The right one is still a bit fragile and I will see the doctor next week; I hope he will be able to tell me I can start doing physical exercise and training without any worries.
I've been pretty busy recently although it does feel like a long time that I haven't been able to ride my Suzuki and I'm losing my patience a little! Andrea and I went on holiday to Tenerife and we had a fun time. Where our hotel was located was not the best for beaches because they are quite stony but we caught some sunshine and I took the chance of being by the pool every day to do some gentle exercises in the water. We went to visit the volcano and did a few touristy things. The holiday was a great time to relax and I ate everything! Normally I have to be a bit careful during the season but this was the moment to unwind and switch off.
Do I think Ryan will dominate Supercross the way he did outdoor MX in 2010? No, but after watching Ryan over the past few years, and especially at the MX of Nations in Italy in 2009, I've seen his confidence go up and up. Each time out, he gets a little faster, a little stronger, and smarter.
Kicking off on Friday during Supercross Weekend in Las Vegas and adding a new event in Sacramento
The 2012 GEICO AMA EnduroCross Series, presented by Lucas Oil will kick off on Friday, May 4th at the Orleans Arena during the Monster Energy Supercross finals weekend. A new event in Sacramento California on Saturday, June 9th will serve as round two and the point standings after these two opening rounds will also be used to qualify riders for the 2012 X Games Enduro X, which will serve as round three for the Expert riders.
The EnduroCross series will then take a summer break before returning to Ontario California, which was a big success during the first visit in 2011. Denver Colorado will be next on the schedule followed by Everett Washington, Boise Idaho and the traditional Las Vegas finals. The series will increase from seven to eight events in 2012.
?We are excited about the continued growth and awareness of EnduroCross since it provides great opportunities to showcase the talent of some of the top off-road motorcycle riders in the world?, stated Mike Karsting, VP of Events for Source Interlink. ?The two new events this season in Ontario and Boise had great crowds and we feel that Sacramento will prove to be another winner due to the strong off-road motorcycle market in Northern California?.

In 1982, I got a phone call from a guy I knew at the races. His name was Drew Lien. The conversation went like this:
Drew: I dig your bull dog style and never give up attitude. I'm starting a company and would love to sponsor you. I can't pay you right now, but I will give you all the free product you can have.
Me: Whats it called?
Drew: 100%
Me: What will you sell?
Drew: Heat shields and numbers.
Me: I'm in...
A few months later, all the top racers ran 100%: Bailey, O'mara, Ward, Glover, Lechien, Kehoe, Holley, and the list goes on.
From that point on 100% has been my life motto. I am giving 100% in whatever I do. Truck racing, coaching, working or loving my family. Win or lose. Happy or sad.
If I am giving 100%, I can go to sleep KNOWING I have done my best.
Drew has past, but his dream lives on. He was a special person with a big dream. God Speed my friend.
HOW MUCH EFFORT DO YOU GIVE?
Ricky Johnson
